The Role:
As an engineer at Outtake, you’ll work across the stack—building functional v0s that evolve into scalable production systems—and collaborate closely with mission-driven customers operating in some of the most socially meaningful domains on the planet.
The role calls for builders who thrive in ambiguity, think holistically about security and systems, and are unafraid to dive into any part of the codebase to get the job done. You’ll bring strong technical judgment, curiosity about real-world security problems, and the ability to balance speed with precision under pressure.
The Assessment:
This assessment is designed to reveal how you approach complex, ambiguous technical problems—from framing and scoping to execution and iteration. After a brief introduction, you’ll have four sequential questions, each building on the last to mirror the real-world process of taking a loosely defined challenge and shaping it into something that actually ships.
You’ll respond through a mix of written and/or short recorded answers, giving you the opportunity to show how you think, reason, and make decisions.
There are no trick questions or single “right” answers—what matters is how you structure your reasoning, justify your trade-offs, and show awareness of both technical depth and practical impact.
