Ideas don’t win on their own. Communicating boldly and persuasively matters more than ever.
We’re looking for a fall intern to work directly with Joe Lonsdale and American Optimist on some of the most important conversations shaping technology, politics, and America’s future. You’ll create content, help drive media strategy, spot emerging conversations, and experiment with new formats and AI tools.
You should be terminally online, relentlessly curious, and have sharp instincts for what matters - and how to make people care. We want someone who takes initiative, moves fast, obsesses over details, and brings ideas from concept to execution.
This exercise is your chance to demonstrate those abilities. You’ll enter a MeritFirst Virtual Desktop, a simulated work environment that reflects the challenges you’d encounter in the role. You can explore files, interact with simulated people, gather context, and use AI to support your work.
You’ll have the freedom to decide how to approach the challenge, what to prioritize, and how to move forward. Show us how you think, communicate, and turn ideas into compelling work.
You'll have 1 hour to finish after beginning the exercise but do not need to use the full time. Have fun!
