Challenge Terms

Giveaways

MeritFirst may run giveaways for some Challenges and not others, at its sole discretion (each, a “Giveaway”). A Giveaway's prize can be a book, swag, or any other item MeritFirst chooses (each, a “Prize”). Completing a Challenge, earning a high score, or placing on a leaderboard does not entitle you to a Prize.

• A Giveaway exists only if MeritFirst announces it on the Challenge's page or in an official MeritFirst communication. The details posted with a Giveaway, such as the Prize, dates, number of winners, and how winners are picked, override these Challenge Terms where they differ.
• Unless the Giveaway details say otherwise, you enter by completing the Challenge and submitting your email during the Giveaway dates.
• MeritFirst decides how winners are picked and how ties are broken. If winners are picked at random, the odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries.
• Taking a Challenge more than once, or entering with more than one email address, does not give you extra entries.
• If fraud, a technical problem, or anything else outside MeritFirst's control affects a Giveaway, MeritFirst may cancel or change it, or pick winners from the valid entries it received.

No Purchase Necessary

Challenges and Giveaways are free. No purchase or payment is required to enter or win, and paying for anything does not improve your chances.

Eligibility

To enter a Giveaway or win a Prize, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be a legal resident of the United States.
• Not be a MeritFirst employee or contractor.

Giveaways are void where prohibited or restricted by law.

Winners

• If you win, MeritFirst will contact you at the email address you submitted. If you do not reply within 7 days, or by the deadline posted with the Giveaway, you lose the Prize and MeritFirst may pick another winner.
• MeritFirst may verify your age, location, and identity, and may pick another winner if you do not qualify.
• You may need to sign an eligibility form and a release before receiving a Prize.
• You are responsible for any taxes on your Prize, and may need to provide tax information, such as a W-9, where required by law.
• Physical Prizes ship only to addresses in the United States. Digital Prizes are sent to the email address you submitted. MeritFirst does not guarantee delivery dates and is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged shipments.
• Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash. MeritFirst may substitute a Prize of equal or greater value, for example if an item, size, or edition is unavailable.
• MeritFirst may withhold a Prize if it believes you broke these Challenge Terms.
• Where allowed by law, MeritFirst may announce winners by name or display name. MeritFirst will not publish your email address.
• Prizes are provided as is, without any warranty from MeritFirst. To the extent allowed by law, MeritFirst is not responsible for technical problems, lost or late entries, or emails that don't arrive, and you release MeritFirst from any claims related to a Giveaway or to accepting or using a Prize.

Scores and Leaderboards

• Scoring. Challenge scores are generated in part by automated systems and may not be perfect. MeritFirst's scores and rankings are final.
• Display names. If you add a display name, it may appear publicly, for example on a leaderboard. Do not use a name that is offensive, misleading, or belongs to someone else. MeritFirst may edit or remove any display name.
• Not a hiring decision. A Challenge score is not an offer of employment or a recommendation to any employer.

Fair Play

Your Challenge responses must be your own work. MeritFirst may remove scores, leaderboard entries, or Giveaway eligibility for anyone who:

• Uses bots, scripts, or other automated means to take a Challenge.
• Submits under multiple identities or on behalf of someone else.
• Tampers with the Challenge or tries to access answers or scoring logic.

Your Responses

You keep ownership of what you submit. You give MeritFirst permission to store, score, and analyze your responses to run the Challenge and improve its Services, and to handle any Personal Data as described in its Privacy Policy.

Your Email

MeritFirst uses the email you submit to send your results and to contact you about any Giveaway.

Changes

MeritFirst may change, pause, or end any Challenge, Giveaway, or Prize, or these Challenge Terms, at any time. Once a Giveaway has started, MeritFirst will only change, pause, or end it because of fraud, a technical problem, or anything else outside MeritFirst's control, and changes to these Challenge Terms will not apply to it. MeritFirst may still substitute a Prize as described under Winners. Changes take effect when posted on this page.

Disputes

Any dispute about a Challenge or Giveaway is handled under the governing law and arbitration terms in MeritFirst's Terms of Use.
